Bill Rowe
(1931 - 1992)

The Last Emperor (1987) Born William Oliver Rowe in Crook, Durham, England. Dubbing mixer and sound re-recording engineer of over 140 films and TV productions who began in British television on the early 1960s TV series "The Avengers" and "The Saint." Notable film credits include ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. (1966), A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (1971), A TOUCH OF CLASS (1973), THE LITTLE PRINCE and MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (both 1974), TOMMY, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW and BARRY LYNDON (all 1975), CROSS OF IRON, JULIA, JABBERWOCKY and ARE YOU BEING SERVED? (all 1977), WATERSHIP DOWN, MIDNIGHT EXPRESS and DEATH ON THE NILE (all 1978), ALIEN and QUADROPHENIA (both 1979), THE SHINING and THE MIRROR CRACK'D (both 1980), CHARIOTS OF FIRE and THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER (both 1981), SHOOT THE MOON and EVIL UNDER THE SUN (both 1982), KRULL and YENTL (both 1983), ANOTHER COUNTRY, THE RAZOR'S EDGE, THE KILLING FIELDS and BIRDY (all 1984), RETURN TO OZ and SWEET DREAMS (both 1985), F/X and THE MISSION (both 1986), CASTAWAY (1987), THE HOUSE ON CARROLL STREET (1988), BATMAN (1989), MEMPHIS BELLE (1990), NOT WITHOUT MY DAUGHTER and MEETING VENUS (both 1991) and his last film, BITTER MOON (1992).

Rowe was the director of the post production sound department at Elstree Studios until his death from a stroke in 1992.
