Franca Squarciapino

Born in Rome, Italy. Costume designer who began with opera for Italian television in the early 1980s. She was nominated for 1981's Tony® Award as Best Costume Designer for the revival of Can-Can. Her feature film credits include CYRANO DE BERGERAC (1990), LOUIS, ENFANT ROI / LOUIS, THE CHILD KING (1993), COLONEL CHABERT (1994), LE HUSSARD SUR LE TOIT / THE HORSEMAN ON THE ROOF (1995), LA FEMME DE CHAMBRE DU TITANIC / THE CHAMBERMAID ON THE TITANIC (1997) and VOLAVÉRUNT (1999). Squarciapino designed costumes for the recent television opera broadcasts of "Romeo e Giulietta", "Hamlet" and "La Belle au bois domant" ("The Sleeping Beauty") (all 2000, and "Otello" (2001).
