Special effects coordinator and supervisor who entered American film as a miniature rigger for 1941 (1979). Other notable credits include NINE TO FIVE (1980), ON GOLDEN POND (1981), AMERICAN FLYERS and THE COLOR PURPLE (both 1985), THE LOST BOYS 1987), LETHAL WEAPON 2, 3 & 4 (1989, 1992 & 1998), ARACHOPHOBIA (1990), FALLING DOWN (1993), MAVERICK and NATURAL BORN KILLERS (both 1994), APOLLO 13 (1995), THE CABLE GUY (1996), BATMAN & ROBIN (1997), GALAXY QUEST (1999), HEARTBREAKERS and THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS (both 2001), THE TIME MACHINE (2002), CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE and CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE (both 2003), HERBIE FULLY LOADED and THE SKELETON KEY (both 2005), THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT (2006), and KNOCKED UP (2007).

He is co-proprietor (w. Lucinda Strub) of Matt Sweeney Special Effects, Inc., a supplier of equipment for the special effects industry located in Van Nuys, CA.
