Born in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Altadena, CA. Her filmmaking credits include the Academy Award®-nominated WHO KILLED VINCENT CHIN? (PBS), an investigation of the beating death of a Chinese American in Detroit; THE LAST BEAT MOVIE (1997, Sundance Channel), "The Best Hotel on Skid Row" (1990, HBO), stories of the denizens of a hotel in downtown Los Angeles, narrated by Charles Bukowski; "Jennifer's in Jail" (Lifetime Television), a profile of teenage girls in trouble with the law; MY AMERICA... OR HONK IF YOU LOVE BUDDHA (1997); "My Journey Home" (2004, TV), and WHATEVER IT TAKES and CALAVERA HIGHWAY (both scheduled for release in 2008).

Her works have been broadcast around the world and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, Festival dei Popoli, Hawaii International Film Festival, London Film Festival, New Directors/New Films, Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and many other venues.
