Born in the Netherlands. He is a member of the Film Commission of the Dutch Arts Council (advisery to the Ministry of Culture), and was a project adviser for documentaries for the Dutch Filmfund (1989-93 and 1997-99). He has directed a number of documentaries and scripted and coproduced numerous animated films, documentaries, short and full-length feature films, including DE LAATSTE DAGEN VAN BROOD EN WIJN / THE LAST DAYS OF BREAD AND WINE and THE FUTURE OF '36 (both 1983), DE DROOMPRODUCENTEN (1984), EEN GRIEKSE TRAGEDIE / A GREEK TRAGEDY (1985), JAN COX, A PAINTER'S ODYSSEY (1988), DILEMMA (1990), ELIAS OF HET GEVECHT MET DE NACHTEGALEN (1991), OP DE FIETS NAAR HOLLYWOOD / HOLLYWOOD BY BIKE (1993), ELIXIR D'ANVERS (1996), WHAT'S IN AN EGG (1997), and FATHER AND DAUGHTER (2000).
