Tony Thomas

w. sister Marlo in 1996 Born in Hollywood, CA; educated at the University of San Diego (CA). Production executive who is the son of actor-producer Danny Thomas (1914 - 1991) and brother of actress-producer Marlo Thomas (b. 1937). Formed The Thomas Group, of which he was the drummer, while he was in high school in 1965. The band performed and recorded until 1968.

Through his father's TV and movie connections, Thomas moved into TV and film production. He began as an associate producer (until 1974) of such made-for-TV movies as "Brian's Song" (1971) and "No Place to Run" (1972). He produced the TV series "Fay" (1975), "The Practice" (1976); then in partnerships with Paul Junger Witt and Susan Harris, he was executive producer of the successful TV series "Soap" (1977), "Benson" (1979), "It's a Living" (1980), "The Golden Girls" (1985), "Beauty and the Beast (1987), "Empty Nest" (1988) and "Heartland" (1989). He continued to act as executive producer of many TV series and made-for-television movies through the 1990s.

His first feature film production was FIRSTBORN (1984) for Paramount. He followed it with FINAL ANALYSIS (1992), MIXED NUTS (1994), and INSOMNIA (2002, exec. producer).
