Elizabeth Thompson is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Her Emmy® Award-winning film BLINK (2000) was funded by ITVS (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) and broadcast on PBS's documentary showcase "P.O.V." Prior to BLINK she co-produced the Academy Award®-nominated film FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE (1993), which was also awarded funding by ITVS and broadcast on "P.O.V."

In addition to ITVS, her work has been supported by the NEA, Sundance Documentary Fund, The Creative Work Fund, Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media, Lucius and Eva Eastman Fund and the Pacific Pioneer Fund.

Thompson has served as a consulting producer on the documentary features LEARNING TO SWALLOW (Danielle Beverly), GIRLS ROCK! (Arne Johnson and Shane King) and INSIDE OUT (Michelle Blair).

Thompson's current work includes a documentary about deaf survivors of domestic violence entitled "Double Code of Silence." In addition, she is the series producer for "Brats", a documentary series about twenty-somethings (and older) who grew up off the grid of mainstream American culture.

As a Camerawoman, she has worked on a number of feature documentaries, including "Hansel Mieth: Vagabond Photographer" (Independent Lens, 2003), RACHEL'S DAUGHTERS (HBO, 1997), and REGRET TO INFORM (1998), which screened at Sundance, broadcast on "P.O.V." and was nominated for Academy and Emmy Awards. Earlier in her career she served as a sound recordist on many films, including SURFING FOR LIFE (1999), FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE and REGRET TO INFORM.

As an artist, Thompson's work has been recognized by both Yaddo and MacDowell Colonies, which have awarded her fellowships and residencies. In addition, she has twice been a Visiting Professor at Stanford University and served on the Board of Directors of AIVF.

Thompson holds a B.A. from Duke University and an M.A. from Stanford University.
