Frank J. Urioste started working in the motion picture business in 1957. Throughout his prolific career he has been nominated for three Oscars® for ROBOCOP in 1988, DIE HARD in 1989 and BASIC INSTINCT in 1993.

He began his career with Henry Mancini at MGM as a music editor, on "Peter Gunn" and "Mr. Lucky". From 1959 to 1967 he was a staff employee, in editing, at MGM where he worked on many feature films including THE DIRTY DOZEN, THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE and MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY. In 1960 Urioste was drafted into the United States Army and served for two years, returning to MGM in 1962 where he remained on staff until 1968. At that time, he became an independent contractor, and from 1968 to 1997 he edited a number of feature films including MIDWAY (1976), THE JAZZ SINGER (1980), THE HITCHER and HOOSIERS (both 1986), ROBOCOP (1987), DIE HARD (1988), TOTAL RECALL (1990), BASIC INSTINCT (1992), CLIFFHANGER and TOMBSTONE (both 1993) and LETHAL WEAPON 4 (1998), among many others.

During the interim of his feature film career, Urioste became a member of the American Cinema Editors and served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1994 to 1997. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Film Editors Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Since 1998 Urioste has served as Senior Vice President in the Feature Development Department at Warner Bros. Pictures, where he works cooperatively with editors and directors in shaping many of the films at Warner Bros. Pictures and the independent companies at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Urioste's other notable editing credits include WHATEVER HAPPENED TO AUNT ALICE? (1969), FAST BREAK (1979), LOVING COUPLES (1980), THE ENTITY (1981), TRENCHCOAT and AMITYVILLE 3-D (both 1983), CONAN THE DESTROYER (1984), RED SONJA (1985), ROAD HOUSE (1989), TERMINAL VELOCITY (1994), CUTTHROAT ISLAND (1995), EXECUTIVE DECISION (1996), CONSPIRACY THEORY (1997), and DEEP BLUE SEA (1999). He was assistant editor for THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE (1968, uncredited) and MR. MAJESTYK (1974).

Urioste received the 2007 American Cinema Editors (ACE) Lifetime Career Achievement Award, which honors veteran editors whose body of work and reputation within the industry is outstanding.
