Born in Stevens Point, WI; educated at North Texas State University, Denton (now: University of North Texas; theater) and AADA, New York. Contemplative, blue-eyed lead with classically sculpted features. Weller's stage experience includes notable performances in David Rabe's Streamers and David Mamet's The Woods. He entered film in 1979 and, though best known for his roles in the deadpan cult favorite THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE EIGHTH DIMENSION (1984) and as the armor-clad title character of ROBOCOP (1987), Weller has also been effective in more character-driven dramas such as SHOOT THE MOON (1982) and FIRSTBORN (1984). Other notable acting credits include SHAKEDOWN (1988), LEVIATHAN (1989), ROBOCOP 2 (1990), NAKED LUNCH (1991), SUNSET GRILL (1993), SCREAMERS, MIGHTY APHRODITE and DECOY (all 1995), TOP OF THE WORLD (1997), FALLING THROUGH, THE CONTAMINATED MAN and IVANSXTC (all 2000), STYX (2001), THE ORDER (2003), THE HARD EASY, MAN OF GOD and UNDISCOVERED (all 2005), and PREY (2007).
