Biography from Fine Line Features

(l.) on the set of Message in a Bottle (1999) Partnered with long time good friend Kevin Costner in 1988 to form Tig Productions, Inc; and in 1990 they produced the epic DANCES WITH WOLVES, winner of seven Academy Awards®, in which Costner both starred and directed. Wilson produced, with Lawrence Kasdan, 1992's blockbuster THE BODYGUARD, and in 1994 he produced WYATT EARP and RAPA NUI. He served as executive producer of the eight-hour documentary mini-series "500 Nations" (1995) for CBS, which follows the epic stuggles of native American Indian nations from creation to the current day. He produced and directed HEAD ABOVE WATER (1996), which starred Harvey Keitel and Cameron Diaz. Other Tig producing credits include THE POSTMAN (1997), MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE (1999), LAFFIT: ALL ABOUT WINNING and WHIRLYGIRL (both 2006), MR. BROOKS (2007), and SWING VOTE (scheduled for release in 2008).

Wilson graduated from Antioch College and the Berkley Film Institute, after which he founded American Twist Productions where he produced and directed numerous short films for clients such as the U.S. Tennis Association, Congoleum, Volvo, the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation and Kodak. Wilson's feature film directorial debut was 1983's STACY'S KNIGHTS, which was written by Micheal Blake and stared Kevin Costner in his first leading role. In 1985 he directed THE MOVIE MAKER (a.k.a. SMART ALEC) and in 1988 was the associate producer on the Costner starrer REVENGE. Wilson currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
