Born in London, England; member of the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC). Like many British cameramen, began his career working for the BBC in the early 1970s. His projects there included the miniseries "Christabel" (1988) and the TV film "Memento Mori" (1992). His other credits include the feature films SLIDING DOORS (1998), CAPTIVES (1994), TRULY MADLY DEEPLY (1991), HOLLOW REED (1996) and THE HUMINGBIRD TREE (1992), ONEGIN (1999), "The Arabian Nights" (2000, TV), THE HOUSE OF MIRTH (also 2000), "Band of Brothers" (2001, TV mini-series), ABOUT A BOY, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and THE ONE AND ONLY (all 2002), JOHNNY ENGLISH and THE HAUNTED MANSION (both 2003), IN GOOD COMPANY (2004), MATCH POINT (29=005), SCOOP and AMAZING GRACE (both 2006), ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE and FRED CLAUS (both 2007), and "The Pacific" (TV mini-series scheduled for release in 2009). ELIZABETH has a generally dark look, offset by areas of brightness. To add texture to the shadowy lighting, Adefarasin "tried to find any reason to shoot through glass, sheer nets, fabrics, flames or anything bizarre. This gives a slightly different impression that defracts the image so it's not crystal clear. When you see an image that it is too well-defined, your brain stops you from looking at it -- whereas you become more interested if the image is held back a bit."  Nominated for Achievement in Cinematography 1998: ELIZABETH 1 nomination
