Born Henry Asman in Louisville, KY; brother of cameraman William L. Asman and sound designer John B. Asman. Supervising sound editor who began in American film as a film editor in the early 1970s. Film editing credits include HIDAN OF AMAUKBEIANGLOW (1973), ABBY (1974), SHEBA, BABY (1975), GRIZZLY (1976), DAY OF THE ANIMALS (1977) and THE MANITOU (1978).

He moved over to sound effects editing with THE BAD NEWS BEARS GO TO JAPAN (1978). Since then, his credits include 20 of Clint Eastwood's films -- from ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ (1979) to LETTER FROM IWO JIMA (2006) -- as well as NORTH DALLAS FORTY and 1941 (both 1979), THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE and ZORRO, THE GAY BLADE (both 1981), CONAN THE BARBARIAN and FIRST BLOOD (both 1982), THE LAST STARFIGHTER (1984), LETHAL WEAPON 2 (1989), DIE HARD 2 (1990), MAVERICK (1994), ERASER (1996), SPEED 2: CRUISE CONTROL (1997), THE REPLACEMENTS (2000), LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER (2001), STAR TREK: NEMESIS (2002), and THE LEGEND OF ZORRO (2005).
