Born in The Bronx, New York City. Production executive who entered American film with INTRUDER (1988, also story). Other notable credits, sometimes as executive producer, include several films written and/or directed by Quentin Tarantino: TALE OF TWO SISTERS (1989), RESERVOIR DOGS (1992), FRESH and KILLING ZOE (both 1994), FOUR ROOMS and WHITE MAN'S BURDEN (both 1995), FROM DUSK TILL DAWN (and its 2 direct-to-video sequels) and SNAKELAND (both 1996), JACKIE BROWN (1997), A PRICE ABOVE RUBIES (1998), ANNA AND THE KING (1999), THE MEXICAN and KNOCKAROUND GUYS (both 2001), STARK RAVING MAD (2002), KILL BILL: VOL. 1 (2003), DIRTY DANCING: HAVANA NIGHTS, VOCES INNOCENTES / INNOCENT VOICES and KILL BILL: VOL. 2 (all 2004), THE CHUMSCRUBBER and THE GREAT RAID (both 2005), AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH (2006), 88: 88 MINUTES (2007), 818 (2008), and EXECUTIVE ORDER: SIX, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS and MANHUNT (all planned for release in 2009).

Bender also produces frequently for television. In 1997, he and Tarantino founded A Band Apart Records, a company that focuses on film soundtracks; its releases are distributed through Maverick Records, owned by Madonna.
