Began her career in the 1970s as production assistent for VIDES owned by Franco Cristaldi. In 1978 she set up a service company (INTESA & INTESA S.r.l.) that promoted famous italian and foreign companies in the world of television and cinema. It organized balls and conferences for both the public and the private sectors, exhibitions and cultural events for famous publishing houses and the Rome Town Council. INTESA & INTESA specialised in production, press relations, and casting. Carranza actively collaborates with this company to this day as a founding member. Head of the Production Division, she has produced a number of documentaries and news reports for RAI, the National Italian Public Broadcasting network. In 1994 she formed a second company, FILM TRUST ITALIA S.r.l., through which she approached the world of young film-makers. In 1996 she produced 10 fiction shorts directed by 10 young Italian directors in collaboration with RAI, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and Italian International Film. These shorts were particularly well received both by the public and the press. One of the ten short films, SENZA PAROLE / WORDLESS (1996), received an Oscar nomination for 1996. She was awarded the Nastro D'Argento and the Davide di Donatello '97 for the entire production effort of 1996.
