Born in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, UK. Producer and assistant director who began in British television as a production assistant for "Three Men in a Boat" (1975). He was associate producer of "Minder" (1979, TV series), "Wagner" (1983, TV mini-series) and "The Short and Curlies" (1987, TV). Then he moved into film production with HIGH HOPES (1988). Since then, his other notable producer credits include LIFE IS SWEET (1990), NAKED (1993), JACK AND SARAH (1995), CAREER GIRLS (1997), TOPSY-TURVY and ACCELERATOR (co-producer) (both 1999), NEW YEAR'S DAY and GOODBYE CHARLIE BRIGHT (co-producer) (both 2001), ALL OR NOTHING and NICHOLAS NICKELBY (both 2002), DE-LOVELY, VERA DRAKE and MAN ABOUT DOG (all 2004), THE CONSTANT GARDENER and BROTHERS OF THE HEAD (both 2005), SHROOMS (exec. prod.) and FLANNEL PAJAMAS (both 2006), and HAPPY-GO-LUCKY, BELLE DE SEIGNEUR and BLINDNESS (all scheduled for release in 2008).
