Born at Maison Laffitte, France. Obtained his diploma in Visual arts in 1982. In 1984, He studied applied arts at Duperré, first stylism then visual expression. On the advice of the draughtsman George Pichard, he left there after graduation in 1987. In 1986, he produced his first film THE SECRECY OF THE DRAGONFLIES. He adaptated the first novel of Victor Hugo in comic strip BUG JARGAL , in collaboration with Nicolas de Crécy.

Chomet started out in animation as and assistant at the Richard Purdum studio in London. After various collaborations on commecials, he produced the first two minutes of a personal film. In September 1988, he started freelancing for London ad agencies, where he continued to work in commercials (Swissair, Principality, Swinton, Renault, et al.). In 1990, returning to France, he designed and produced a video clip for the vocal group TSF.

Headquarted in Montpellier, he shared a studio with Hubert Chevillard, Nicolas de Crécy, Eric Larnoy and Corcal. He collaborated on a number of projects through the end of the 1990s, culminating in THE OLD LADY AND THE PIGEONS. Since then, he has made LES TRIPLETTES DE BELLEVILLE (2003), PARIS, JE T'AIME (2006, segment: "Tour Eiffel"), and THE ILLUSIONIST (scheduled for release in 2009).
