Michael Coulter

Sense and Sensibility (1995) Born in Glasgow, Scotland. Cinematographer who started as a gofer for a small documentary film company when he was still in high school. Coulter entered British film with Bill Forsyth's THAT SINKING FEELING (1980), and they continued that association into the 1990s: GREGORY'S GIRL (1981), LOCAL HERO (1983), COMFORT AND JOY (1984), HOUSEKEEPING (1987), BREAKING IN (1989) and BEING HUMAN (1993). Coulter worked as a camera operator for John Huston's THE DEAD (1987: Ireland). Other notable cinematography credits include THE ARCHITECTURE OF FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT (1983), HEAVENLY PURSUITS, NO SURRENDER and THE GOOD FATHER (all 1985), THE DRESSMAKER (1988), BEARSKIN: AN URBAN FAIRYTALE and DIAMOND SKULLS (both 1989), WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD (1991), MONSTER IN A BOX and THE LONG DAY CLOSES (both 1992), FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL (1994), THE NEON BIBLE and SENSE AND SENSIBILITY (both 1995), FAIRY TALE: A TRUE STORY (1997), MY GIANT (1998), NOTTING HILL and MANSFIELD PARK (both 1999), KILLING ME SOFTLY (2002), LOVE ACTUALLY (2003), and THE BANK JOB (2008).
