Born in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Award-winning animator Paul Driessen has always had an overactive imagination. He began his animation career doing commercials in his native Holland. In 1967, he worked on the Beatles' landmark animated film YELLOW SUBMARINE. After moving to Canada in the early '70s, he began a long and successful association with the National Film Board.

Paul has made over 20 award-winning films in Canada, Holland and elsewhere. His film 3 MISSES (produced by Willem Thijssen of CinÈTÈ), garnered a 1999 Academy Award® nomination, among other awards. His animations for the NFB include AIR! (1972), CAT'S CRADLE (1974), AN OLD BOX (1975), THE END OF THE WORLD IN FOUR SEASONS (1995), and his most recent film, THE BOY WHO SAW THE ICEBERG (2000). In 2003, he completed work on the animated Web project 2D OR NOT 2D, a co-production with CinÈTÈ, the National Film Board and La Sept/ARTE.
