Born in Chicago, IL. For seven years he was a constant partner to Thomas Lennon in producing, directing, and devising scripts. His works for PBS' "The American Experience" include: "The Hurricane of '38" (2001) and "The Battle Over Citizen Kane" (1996). In 1999, he wrote, produced and directed "Hitchcock, Selznick and the End of Hollywood" as part of the "American Masters" series for television. Epstein contributed another "American Masters" program in 2007 with "Novel Reflections: The American Dream."
