Directed by Optical Radiation's President Richard D. Wood to form a team of engineers and computer experts -- working closely with Ronald Uhlig and his colleagues at Kodak -- to develop a 6-channel digital format that would fit into the existing soundtrack areas of 70mm and perhaps even 35mm film. They announced their success on September 18, 1989.
