Biography and photo from FilmMakeup.tv

Born in London, England, Peter Frampton literally "grew up" in the film industry. Father, Harry Frampton (1915-1992), was one of the leading make-up technicians of his day and mother, Daphne, was a highly regarded script supervisor. As a child, Peter experienced the film industry from the other side of the camera, winning roles in several English films.

Ultimately, Peter followed in the family tradition and established his own career as a make up technician at Pinewood, Shepparton, Elstree and Twickenham Studios, who at the time were producing what are now considered to be among the finest British films ever made. Although not apprenticed to his father, Frampton did become his assistant on such films as Alfred Hitchcock's FRENZY (1972) and Sam Peckinpah's STRAW DOGS (1971) and went on to become one of the world's most sought after make-up artists in his own right.

Frampton has a long list of movie credits and accolades to his name, including I, MONSTER (1971), THE LAST OF SHEILA (1973), VICTOR/VICTORIA and PINK FLOYD THE WALL (both 1982), BULLSHOT CRUMMOND (1983), GREYSTOKE: THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, LORD OF THE APES (1984 BAFTA Award), SID AND NANCY and 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD (both 1986), WITHNAIL AND I (1987), PASCALI'S ISLAND and WITHOUT A CLUE (both 1988), HENRY V (1989), A KISS BEFORE DYING (1991), THE POWER OF ONE (1992), SON OF THE PINK PANTHER and LITTLE BUDDHA (both 1993), RAPA NUI and THE ROAD TO WELLVILLE (both 1994). The ultimate testament to his success was winning the 1995 Oscar® for Best Makeup for his work on the film BRAVEHEART starring Mel Gibson.

In 1996, with this outstanding success and extensive career behind him, Frampton made the decision to base himself in Australia and develop a course to pass on his skills to others. He set about designing, developing and then teaching a Diploma of Cinemagraphic Make-up recognised by the Australian Training Recognition Council. Thus the Frampton Institute began. As Director of Learning, Frampton has conducted all training and assessment at the Institute for over ten years with students coming from all over the world to be trained by him.

His own high profile has enhanced the reputation of the Frampton Institute and the Diploma of Cinemagraphic Make-Up has now achieved international recognition. He now works closely alongside his hand-selected teaching staff to continue to provide all assessment and extra curricular master classes in specialist areas.
