Born in Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. Father of producer Vittorio Cecchi Gori. Producer of 130 films who entered Italian film in the late 1950s. Won "Davids" for best production (IL TIGRE, 1967), best film (QUESTA SPECIE D'AMORE, 1972) and best producer (TURNÉ, 1990). He was awarded a Career David in 1991. He posthumously shared a 1996 BAFTA Award for Best Film not in the English Language for IL POSTINO / THE POSTMAN (1994) with Vittorio Cecchi Gori, Gaetano Daniele and Michael Radford. His credits include the Academy Award®-winning MEDITERRANEO (1991), Federico Fellini's VOICE OF THE MOON (1989) and Dino Risi's 1962 classic THE EASY LIFE.
