Born in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. Son of producer Mario Cecchi Gori and President of Fiorentina FC. Producer of over 150 films who entered Italian film in 1980. He shared a 1990 "David" for best producer with Gianni Minervini and Mario Cecci Gori for TURNÉ, won Special Davids in 1995 and 2000, and was nominated for best producer for CANONE INVERSO / MAKING LOVE (2000). He shared a 1996 BAFTA Film Award for Best Film not in the English Language for IL POSTINO / THE POSTMAN (1994) with Mario Cecci Gori, Gaetano Daniele and Michael Radford. His credits with his father include the Academy Award-winning MEDITERRANEO (1991) and Federico Fellini's VOICE OF THE MOON (1989).

Since his father's death in 1993, Cecchi Gori has produced over 70 Italian films, from PASOLINI, UN DELITTO ITALIANO / PASOLINI, AN ITALIAN CRIME and L'UOMO DELLE STELLE / STARMAKER (both 1995) to SCUSA MA TI CHIAMO AMORE (2008).
