Special effects co-ordinator whose film and television credits include WAR HUNT (1962), "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." (1964, TV series), WAR PARTY (1965), "The Guns of Will Sonnett" (1976, TV series), THE GODFATHER and RAGE (both 1972), ELECTRA GLIDE IN BLUE and THE GODFATHER: PART II (both 1974), OBSESSION (1976), APOCALYPSE NOW (1979), THE DOGS OF WAR (1980), THE ENTITY (1981), ONE FROM THE HEART and HAMMETT (both 1982), UNCOMMON VALOR (1983), THE MOSQUITO COAST (1986), THE TWO JAKES (1990), MOBSTERS (1991), CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER (1994), COURAGE UNDER FIRE (1996) and CITY OF INDUSTRY and "The Last Don" (TV mini-series) (both 1997).

Lombardi founded Special Effects Unlimited, the largest special effects company in the film business. Co-founded Riverwood Studios, located just south of Atlanta, GA, with Paul Lombardi. Author of Special Effects in Motion Pictures.

 Honorary Award 1996: "In celebration of fifty years in the motion picture industry. His knowledge and leadership in the field of pyrotechnics and special effects along with his uncompromising promotion of safety on the set have established the standard for today's special effects technicians." Winner presented an Award of Commendation (Plaque).
