Born in Sydney, NSW, Austalia. Martin completed a Diploma Disign Course at the National Instutute of Dramatic Art, where she met classmate film director Baz Luhrmann in 1988. They married in 1997 and have two children: Lillian Amanda Luhrmann (b. 2003) and William Alexander Luhrmann (b. 2005). Martin's production design credits include Luhrmann's STRICTLY BALLROOM (1992), "La Bohème" (1993, TV), MOULIN ROUGE! (2001), and AUSTRALIA (2008). She was awarded Broadway's 2003 Tony® Award as Best Scenic Designer for La Bohème.
