Born in Los Angeles, CA; son of composer Alfred Newman (1901-1970); nephew of composers Emil Newman (1911-1984) and Lionel Newman (1916-1989); brother of composer Thomas Newman (b. 1955); cousin of composers Randy Newman (b. 1943) and Joey Newman (b. 1976). Prolific composer, orchestrator, conductor and arranger whose first musical score was for FRANKENWEENIE (1984).
