Born William Bradley Pitt in Shawnee, OK; raised in Springfield, MO; educated at the University of Missouri (journalism). Handsome actor who, after appearing in recurring roles on the soap operas "Another World" and "Dallas" and starring on the TV series "Glory Days," first gained notice as the hitchhiking hunk -- part charmer, part thief -- who seduces Geena Davis in the female buddy movie THELMA & LOUISE (1991). Pitt achieved leading man status with his roles as the troubled younger brother in Robert Redford's A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT (1992) and Tom DiCillo's JOHNNY SUEDE (1991). He has since become one of the most prominent actors of his generation, with chillingly effective performances in two violent independent films from 1993, KALIFORNIA and TRUE ROMANCE, in addition to co-starring with Tom Cruise in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE: THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES (1994). LEGENDS OF THE FALL (1995), SLEEPERS (1996), THE DEVIL'S OWN (1997), SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET (1997), MEET JOE BLACK (1998), FIGHT CLUB (1999), SNATCH (2000), THE MEXICAN, SPY GAME and OCEAN'S 11 (all 2001) have proved Pitt to be one of the screen's most popular personalities. Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005.
