Educated at the University of Kentucky (B.A.) and the Art Institue of Chicago (M.F.A., film). Visual effects supervisor who entered American film at R/Greenberg Associates with ZELIG (1983). Other notable vfx credits include LADYHAWKE and WEIRD SCIENCE (both 1985), PREDATOR (1987), NEW YORK STORIES (segment "Oedipus Wrecks"), THE ABYSS and BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II (all 1989), DIE HARD 2 and GHOST (both 1990), BACKDRAFT and TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY (both 1991), MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN and DEATH BECOMES HER (both 1992), LAST ACTION HERO (1993), THE SHADOW and IMMORTAL BELOVED (both 1994), MORTAL KOMBAT (1995), THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS (1996), WHAT DREAMS MAY COME (1998), THE RAGE: CARRIE 2 (1999), THE PATRIOT (2000), "Rose Red" (2002, TV mini-series), WILLARD and SCARY MOVIE 3 (both 2003), and CHARM and FAT ALBERT (both 2004). Robertson was a member of the faculty in Florida State University's College of Motion Picture, Television & Recording Arts (aka "Film School"). He served as faculty advisor on visual effects for the student films THE PROBLEM WITH FIBER OPTICS, THE LINE STARTS HERE and THE BUTLER OF THE VAN DER WAAL HOUSE (all 2005).

Robertson serves on the Board of Directors for the Visual Effects Society, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
