Born Sigurjon B. Sigurdsson in Rekjavik, Iceland. Icelandic poet, novelist and lyricist who wrote the lyrics for Lars Von Trier's gothic musical DANCER IN THE DARK (2000). In the eighties Sjón was at the forefront of surrelist/experimental ensemble Medusa. With close ties to the music world. he collaborated with the Sugarcubes and has in later years been a regular writer for Björk, writing lyrics for her three hit singles "Isobel," "Jóga" and "Bachelorette." With eleven volumes of poetry under his belt and three novels, Sjón is currently working on the follow up to his award-winning novel Thyne Eyes Saw Me.

Sigurdsson's screenwriting credits include Maria Siguröardóttir's REGINA (2001), Gunnar Karlsson's ANNA AND THE MOODS (2007), and Júlíus Kemp's REYKJAVIK WHALE WATCHING MASSACRE (scheduled for release in 2008).
