Producer Steve Starkey earned an Academy Award® as one of the producers of the Best Picture Oscar®-winner FORREST GUMP (1994), directed by Robert Zemeckis. Starkey's professional relationship with Zemeckis began in 1986 when Starkey associate produced WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT and continued with the second and third films in the BACK TO THE FUTURE (1989, 1990) trilogy, on which he served again as associate producer. The collaboration continued as Starkey and Zemeckis produced Zemeckis' DEATH BECOMES HER (1992) and then FORREST GUMP. Starkey also co-produced the comedy farce NOISES OFF... (1992).

Early in his entertainment career, Starkey worked with George Lucas at Lucasfilm Ltd., where he was an assistant film editor on THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980) and RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983). He later edited documentary films for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and was associate producer of Spielberg's "Amazing Stories" television anthology series and executive producer of the "Johnny Bago" television series.

Starkey's more recent producing credits include CONTACT (1997), WHAT LIES BENEATH and CAST AWAY (both 2000), MATCHSTICK MEN (2003), THE POLAR EXPRESS (2004), THE PRIZE WINNER OF DEFIANCE, OHIO (2005), LAST HOLDAY and MONSTER HOUSE (both 2006), BEOWULF (2007), and A CHRISTMAS CAROL (scheduled for release in 2009).
