Daniel C. Striepeke

Born in Sonoma County, California. Legendary makeup artist and former head of makeup department at 20th Century-Fox. He entered American film as an uncredited makeup artist on AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956). Television work included the TV series "Maverick" (1957), "Mission: Impossible" (1966) and "Planet of the Apes" (1974). Among his many notable film credits are THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (1960), TARAL BULBA (1962), PLANET OF THE APES (1968), BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID (1969), M*A*S*H and PATTON (both 1970), THE MEPHISTO WALTZ (1971), CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (1972), SSSSSSSS (1973, also producer & story), THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU (1977), GREASE and THE DEER HUNTER (both 1978), AMERICAN GIGOLO (1980), ANNIE (1982), DOCTOR DETROIT (1983), FOOTLOOSE (1984), TWICE IN A LIFETIME (1985), JAWS: THE REVENGE (1987), MIDNIGHT RUN (1988), THE 'BURBS (1989), JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO and THE BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES (both 1990), DEAD AGAIN (1991), LOST IN YONKERS and MADE IN AMERICA (both 1993), FORREST GUMP (1994), APOLLO 13 and THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT (both 1995), EXECUTIVE DECISION and THAT THING YOU DO! (both 1996), WAG THE DOG (1997), SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (1998), IN THE LIGHT OF THE MOON and CAST AWAY (both 2000), ROAD TO PERDITION and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (both 2002), THE LADYKILLERS and THE TERMINAL (both 2004), and THE DA VINCI CODE (2006). Striepeke has formed a close association with Tom Hanks, most often as his personal makeup artist.
