Alberto Testa

Born to Italian parents in São Paulo, Brazil. When he was a child, he and his family moved back to Italy. During the Second World War, Testa served in the Italian armed forces. Taken prisoner, he served time in a prisoner-of-war camp in the US. He returned to Italy at the end of the war and had a brief career as a singer, before switching to songwriting. As a lyricist, Testa contributed to "Quando Quando Quando", "Uno Para Todas", "I Want To Be Wanted" and "Grande Grande Grande" -- all of which were used in films from 1962. He entered Italian film as an uncredited choreographer for THE LEOPARD (1963). Other notable choreography credits include ROMEO AND JULIET (1968), IL BACIO / THE KISS (1974), "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977, TV mini-series), LA TRAVIATA (1982), OTELLO (1986) and YOUNG TOSCANINI (1988). He was the author of Words of Dance (2004).
