Biography from One World: 2000, photo from Animation World Magazine

As a propaganda artist for the People's Liberation Army, Shui-Bo's artwork embodied the vigorous lines of social realism. He was brimming with youthful idealism, when he joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1980 at the age of 19. It was not until he was in his mid-20s that he would begin to question the communist system. Four months after the massacre in Tiananmen Square, Shui-Bo Wang left China for North America. In Canada, Shui-Bo has worked as an assistant to world-renowned animator Frédéric Back. He has also taught illustration and done illustrations for the New York Times as well as designing the animation for the NFB/NHK co-production "Another Earth."
