theOscarSite Bio: Allers is a film director and screenwriter, who has worked on many successful Disney movies. He directed the Academy Award winning movie, THE LION KING. He was also nominated for a Tony^® for writing the book of the hit Broadway musical version of The Lion King. He wrote, among other things, the script for OLIVER AND COMPANY, THE LITTLE MERMAID, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and ALADDIN.

Away from the Disney studio, Allers directed the 2006 animated movie, OPEN SEASON for Sony.

His Oscar^®-nominated short, THE LITTLE MATCHGIRL, was originally intended for FANTASIA 2006.
