(1958 - ) Biography and photo from "Babel" web site theOscarSite Bio: Writer Guillermo Arriaga, who was born and raised in México City, wrote the screenplays for Alejandro González Iñárritu's 21 GRAMS (2003), AMORES PERROS / LIFE'S A BITCH (2000) (serving as associate producer on both films) and BABEL (2006). Arriaga also recently wrote and acted in Tommy Lee Jone's feature film directorial debut, THE THREE BURIALS OF MELQUIADES ESTRADA (2005), for which he won the Golden Palm for best screenplay in Cannes in 2005. He completed the screenplay and produced 2007's EL BUFALO DE LA NOCHE / THE NIGHT BUFFALO. Upcoming projects include screenplays for THE BURNING PLAIN (also director) and DALLAS BUYER'S CLUB (both scheduled for release in 2009). Arriaga was invited to join A.M.P.A.S. in 2007.
