Cramer started directing commercials in the early 1990s, coming from a background of being a cutter and artist in digital post-production. He was a founding member and co-owner of Magicmove GmbH, a visual effects company, and he was involved in the effects and motion control work of features like THE 13TH FLOOR (1999), THE PATRIOT (2000), THE PIANIST (2002) and FROM HELL (2001), among others. He left the company in 2001 to focus on directing. He has also worked as 2nd unit and action director for various German features and TV productions. Cramer invented and patented the SKATER&® Mini, an award-winning popular mini-dolly. He was also involved in the development of the SKATER® Scope, the first true compact snorkel lens system available.  Technical Achievement Awards 2007 (Academy Certificate) - For the design of the Skater Dolly and its family of products. 1 Sci-Tech Award
