Born in Mexico City, D.F., Mexico. Art director and production designer who entered American film as the art director for DESPERADO (1995). Other notable production design credits include MEN WITH GUNS (1997), "Primal Force" (1999, TV), "Operation Sandman" (2000, TV), FRIDA (2002) and CASA DE LOS BABYS (2003). He directed the Mexican features UN HILITO DE SANGRE / A TRICKLE OF BLOOD (1995) and JULIO Y SU ÁNGEL / JULIO AND HIS ANGEL (1996). Fernández lives in a house that he rehabilitated in the San Pedro de los Pinos neighborhood in the middle of Mexico City.  Nominated for Achievement in Art Direction 2002: FRIDA - Art Direction 1 nomination
