Launched in 2003 to serve both live-action and animated features, the real time answer print system provides filmmakers with a safe, efficient process to protect their original camera negatives, while serving as an economical and robust tool for answer and release printing. Further, the technology is employed by animation studio customers to pre-grade computer-generated (CG) animation as it will appear at the end of the production and postproduction processes prior to final release printing. Animated feature titles to use the proprietary system include THE INCREDIBLES, MADAGASCAR, SHARK TALE, SHREK 2, and CARS, the upcoming release from Disney and Pixar.
The Technicolor team receiving the Technical Achievement Award includes engineer and lead inventor Harold Rattray, Terry Claborn, Steve Garlick, Bill Hogue, and Technicolor North Hollywood general manager Tim Reynolds. The group also worked closely with Technicolor's world-renowned film color timers, led by head color timer Terry Haggar. Recent live-action features to employ the technology include GLORY ROAD, DREAMER: INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY, THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED, JUST LIKE HEAVEN, and THE INTERPRETER.
