Born in Naples, Italy. Producer who entered Italian film in 1962 (L'OMBRA DI ZORRO / THE SHADOW OF ZORRO). At first, Grimaldi produced several "spaghetti" westerns (FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, 1965; THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, 1966; et al.), then moved into more important films for Federico Fellini and Bernardo Bertolucci. Other notable producing credits include FELLINI SATYRICON (1970), THE DECAMERON (also 1970), LAST TANGO IN PARIS and MAN OF LA MANCHA (both 1972), 1900 and FELLINI'S CASANOVA (both 1976), GINGER AND FRED (1986), GANGS OF NEW YORK (2002), and LA TIVÙ DI FELLINI (2003).
