Birthplace: Northridge, CA

theOscarSite Bio: His father Haven Earle Haley was a radio show host and actor. Jackie started in TV commercials at age 6. In the late 70s he became a teen character star who played tough, angry, pimply misfit types, notably in THE BAD NEWS BEARS (1976) and BREAKING AWAY (1979). In 1975, he played a tap-dancing terrorizer stomped to death by actor Donald Sutherland in THE DAY OF THE LOCUST.

Having not done a movie since 1993 and moonlighting here and there as a commercial director, limousine driver, funiture refinisher, security officer and pizza deliverer in and around San Antonio, TX, Haley happened to be "just remembered" for his earlier films by director Steve Zaillian for his role in ALL THE KINGS MEN (2006), and that set the ball rolling for his return to films. His subsequent screen credits include LITTLE CHILDREN (also 2006), SEMI-PRO, BOLDEN!, THE GREAT OBSERVER and WINGED CREATURE (all scheduled for release in 2008), and WATCHMEN and SHUTTER ISLAND (scheduled for 2009). -- Mini-biography assembled from information on the IMDb
