Born in New York City. Principal partner in DreamWorks SKG, a multi-faceted entertainment company, which he co-founded with Steven Spielberg and David Geffen in October 1994. He served as the executive producer of DreamWorks' animated musical THE ROAD TO EL DORADO (2000), which reunited songwriters Elton John and Tim Rice and composer Hans Zimmer, the Oscar®-winning musical team from THE LION KING. Previously, Katzenberg was the executive producer of the animated epic THE PRINCE OF EGYPT (1998), which grossed over 225 million dollars worldwide, and won an Oscar® for Best Original Song ("When You Believe"). The film went on to enjoy a hugely successful release on video and DVD. Other executive producer credits include CHICKEN RUN (2000), SHREK (2001), SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON (2002), SHREK 4-D and SINBAD: LEGEND OF THE SEVEN SEAS (both 2003), SHREK 2 and SHARK TALE (both 2004).
Back in 1978, he was working for Paramount Pictures and was given the daunting task of bringing the Star Trek franchise back after a decade long "sleep". Eventually, the movie was completed, and is now STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE (1979). He was an uncredited co-producer of TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993) at Touchstone Pictures.
