Johannes Kiefer

Born and raised in Munich, Germany. After a university degree in Literature and History, he began his career as a researcher for the director Wolfgang Petersen. Additionally, he worked as a first assistant director and assistant editor in German television: "Ein starkes Team - Bankraub" (2000), "Vergiss Amerika" (also 2000) and "Der Schuß" (2001).

GREGOR'S GREATEST INVENTION ("Gregors größte Erfindung") was his directorial debut and was among the five nominees for the 2001 Oscar® in the category Best Short Film - Live Action. Subsequent assistant director credits include EMIL UND DIE DETEKTIVE (2001), "Stärker als der Tod" (2004, TV), "Die Entscheidung" (2004, TV), and "Ein Halbes Leben" (2008, TV).
