Born in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Cinematographer who entered Australian film as a unit runner for Bruce Beresford's THE GETTING OF WISDOM (1977). He worked on the camera crews of several films in the late 1970s and early 1980s (PATRICK, 1978; THE KILLING OF ANGEL STREET and MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR, both 1981; DEAD EASY and EARLY FROST, both 1982; and NOW AND FOREVER, 1983) and then became a director of photography for STATIONS (1983). Other cinematography credits include UNFINISHED BUSINESS, FAIR GAME and EMOH RUO (all 1985), DARK AGE and AUSTRALIAN DREAM (both 1987), THE DELINQUENTS and BOYS IN THE ISLAND (both 1989), THE GIRL WHO CAME LATE (1991), YOU SENG and FATAL PAST (both 1993), SPIDER & ROSE (1994), BABE (1995), TWO IF BY SEA (1996), DOING TIME FOR PATSY CLINE (1997), THE SUGAR FACTORY and BABE: PIG IN THE CITY (both 1998), the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy (2001-2003), LOVE'S BROTHER (2003), KING KONG (2005), I AM LEGEND (2007), and THE LOVELY BONES (scheduled for release in 2009).
