Born in Montana, USA. Sketch artist, character designer and story artist at Pixar whose credits include TOY STORY (1995, "Woody"), A BUG'S LIFE (1998) and TOY STORY 2 (1999). For some, Luckey's animation is a cross between the vibrancy of Mary Blair and the buoyancy of George Pal. For others, including Pixar's Pete Docter, who recruited the 69-year-old traditional animator from Colossal Pictures in nearby San Francisco in 1992, BOUNDIN' recalls the short films about counting Luckey directed during the first season of "Sesame Street." But to the very humble and self-effacing Luckey, who attended Chouinard Art Institute (now CalArts) and was mentored by Art Babbitt at USC, the roots of BOUNDIN' go all the way back to his childhood in Billings, Montana.
Luckey began his career as an animator for the 1961 TV series "The Alvin Show." Other notable credits include "Sesame Street" (1969, TV series), "Bibifoc" (1984, TV series), BETTY BOOP'S HOLLYWOOD MYSTERY (1989), and visual development for MONSTERS, INC. (2001), CARS (2006), and RATATOUILLE (2007). Luckey has lent his voice to some Pixar films, narrating BOUNDIN' and as Agent Rick Dicker in THE INCREDIBLES (2004) and "Jack-Jack Attack" (2005, video).
