theOscarSite Bio: Born in London, England, UK; raised in Wimbledon. Read English at Wadham College, Oxford. Wrote his first play "Dealer's Choice" in 1995. It opened at the Royal National Theatre in London in February 1995 and later that year transferred to the West End. The play won numerous awards including the 1995 Writer's Guild Award (Best West End Play) and the 1995 Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy of the Year. "Dealer's Choice" has been produced in many cities throughout the world including Melbourne, New York, Berlin, Chicago and Vienna.

His next play, "Closer", performed at the Royal National Theatre, was awarded the 1998 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best New Play of 1997, the 1997 London Critics Circle Theatre Award (Drama) for Best New Play, the 1997 London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Comedy. And -- after the play was moved to Broadway -- Marber was nominated for Broadway's 1999 Tony® Award as author of Best Play.

Marber writes for television and film as well. TV credits include "Rory Bremner" (1989), "Saturday Zoo" and "Paul Call's Video Diary" (both 1993), "The Day Today" and "Pauline Call's Wedding Video" (both 1994), "After Miss Julie" and episodes of "Coogan's Run" and "Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge" (all 1995). Film writing credits include OLD STREET and CLOSER (both 2004), ASYLUM (2005), NOTES ON A SCANDAL (2006) and LOVE YOU MORE (scheduled for release in 2007).

Marber was invited to join A.M.P.A.S. in 2007.
