Born in Madison, WI; educated at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA; 1982). Director/choreographer for stage and television who was nominated for his first film, CHICAGO (2002). Marshall was a replacement in the original Broadway production of Cats, and he performed in the revival of Zorba (1983), and the original runs of The Rink (1984) and The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1985). As a choreographer/movement consultant, his Broadway credits include Blithe Spirit, The Kiss of the Spider Woman, She Loves Me, Damn Yankees, Company, Victor/Victoria, and A Funny Thing...Forum. He directed and choreographed the Broadway revivals of Cabaret and Little Me (both 1998). Other notable director-choreographer credits include "Mrs. Santa Claus" (1996, TV - choreographer), "Cinderella" (1997, TV - choreographer) and "Annie" (1999, TV).

Marshall is producing, directing and choreographing the film adaptation of the stage musical Nine (scheduled for release in 2009).
