Studied at Iowa State University; graduated from the University of Southern California film/television school (1989). Independent filmmaker who entered American film as a cinematographer for DEAD GIRLS (1990). Working mostly in television and as second unit or "b" camera ("Murder One," "C-16: FBI," "Buddy Fargo," "The Agency" and TITANIC), his other feature credits include KISS THE GIRLS and SIMON BIRCH. In 2003, he wrote and directed TWO SOLDIERS. Schneider shot the film in Winston-Salem and Yadkinville, NC, with the assistance of students from the North Carolina School of the Arts.

Schneider is slated to direct GET LOW (announced for 2009).
