Born in Los Angeles, CA; graduated from USC School of Cinema-Television (1985). Son of producer Jack Schwartzman (1932-1994) and actress Talia Shire; nephew of producer-director Francis Ford Coppola. Coppola and George Lucas wrote his letters of recommendation to film schools after he beat them at Risk. Entered American film as cinematographer for YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE (1988).
