theOscarSite Bio: Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Thurmeier and his wife moved to NY in 1998 for a job at Blue Sky studios, where he's worked as an Animator/Lead Animator/Supervising Animator/Director for the past nine years. When he was young he wanted to be a stuntman, and then a lawyer. But since that didn't work out Animation seemed like a good runner up.

Thurmeier worked as an animator at Blue Sky for FIGHT CLUB (1999) and an episode of "The Sopranos" (2000, TV). He was an additional story writer and lead animator for ICE AGE and its accompanying short GONE NUTTY (both 2002) . His other animation supervision credits include ROBOTS (2005), ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN and NO TIME FOR NUTS (director) (both 2006), and HORTON HEARS A WHO! (2008).
