Born in Japan. He made his first animation film in 1977, when he was 13 year-old. Ten years later in 1987, he graduated from Tokyo Zokei University. In 1993, he founded Yamamura Animation, Inc. Yamamura has produced short animated films for children, TV commercials and video works using clay, photos, color pencils, ink and various techniques. His works have been shown at the film festivals in more than 25 countries all over the world, and received many awards.
He produced "Miru-Shiru-Tsukuru kit" for the 10th anniversary of the National Children's Castle. "Miru-Shiru-Tsukuru kit" is a set of a video tape, a picture book and a hands-on kit through which children will learn the trick of animation. Mainly using the kit, Yamamura has held many workshops at the Berlin Kinder Film Festival and other film festivals. He is a member of the board of directors of the Japan Animation Association (JAA) and a member of the board of directors of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) Japan. Other film credits include A HOUSE, PACUSI, BAVEL'S BOOK and YOUR CHOICE! (1999). His most recent film is A COUNTRY DOCTOR (KAFKA - INAKA ISHA) (2007).
